Gentrification (or should we say USC?) is shutting the UV down. I accompanied Isabella Sayyah to interview the strip mall's shopowners for the Daily Trojan.

Many declined to talk to us, but a few stopped what they were doing to chat. 

Akm Alam, the owner of Quick-Pix Photo & Digital Lab, grew up in the area.

"It is heartbreaking. I've been here 33 years. I'm the very oldest tenant, you could say," he said. 

Johnny Senkiua and his family opened Thai Trio 15 years ago. 

Amy Hwang has enjoyed serving students at Nahm San Korean BBQ for 13 years. 

"They're like my kids," she said.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is watch people pursue their passions. Last week, I had the privilege of documenting Rachel Song do what she loves to do: make art. The final project for FAPT 305 Advanced Painting, this piece is titled e x p e r i e n c e.
